When I first heard the word sommelier, I didn’t know that it is a kind of job. I had to look for its meaning in Wikipedia before I fully understand what it was. My sister who was a graduate of BS HRM is asking me if I know some beverage/sommelier jobs available in Manila. She’s been checking her Jobstreet account all the time and can’t find a job that really perks her interest. Or, the qualifications are too high for a newly-graduate like her.
Anyway, let’s go back to this sommelier thingy. Sommelier is a Frech term for wine steward. it refers to a well-trained and knowlegeable wine professional who usually works in fine restaurants. The job specification includes especializing in all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food matching. It is basically more than just being a wine waiter.

I think the reason why she suddenly gets interested with that kind of job is her background about wine. Well, I envy her for she have tasted and mixed a lot of drinks while she was in college because it is part of the curriculum.
I’m just hoping that she’ll find the best job for her. Something that she really want and that can make her really happy and satisfied.
