July 26, 2011 – Earthquake in Manila07.26.11

Past 1AM, I just went upstairs after prepping up for a good night sleep when I decided to check my FB before shutting down my laptop. And just when I’m loading the Backyard Monsters app, I felt my room was revolving around me. I literally felt dizzy as I helplessly leaned against the wall of my room. Nothing was moving in my room except for the hanging shirts I’m about to wear tomorrow. And my head felt as if it was spinning around. I hurriedly posted a quick status update asking if there’s an earthquake. I really felt the tremble, but not sure if it’s earthquake because I’m too tired and sleepy to know. Not even certain if it was part of my dream. But hey, I’m blogging now to let the world know that a magnitude 6.0 earthquake hits the Philippines.

Climbing for A Cause05.19.11

The active blogger in me is so excited for her first mountain-climbing! I’ll be joining this blogging for a cause activity this coming May 28, 2011.

Rhonz will come and participate, too! We’ll be attending the pre-briefing on the 25th and I believe there will be a lot of discussions and reminders. There will also be a raffle and I hope to win good prizes. :)

If you want to know more about this generous activity, click here – Blogging for A Cause thru Akyat Pinatubo.

I’m looking for hiking backpacks right now because I have to
prepare my things for the climb. I don’t have any backpack with me so I might buy one before this week ends.

February 22, 2011 Earthquake Update02.23.11

Here’s an update about yesterday’s earthquake. I was not able to make a follow up post because I left early to process my clearance. Just got time to check it on the news – Manila Bulletin

Its epicenter was located 26 kilometers north-west of Nasugbu, Batangas. Oh, my hometown!

According to the report, New Zealand experienced a higher-intensity of earthquake killing about 65 people. Though there are no Filipino casualties, this is still a sad news for me.

New Zealand
The 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand’s second-largest city around lunchtime, collapsing buildings and sending bricks and other heavy debris toppling into busy city streets. It was the second major quake to strike Christchurch in the past five months.

WOW Philippines VS Pilipinas Kay Ganda!11.25.10

Pilipinas Kay Ganda Logo

What's so beautiful about this logo?

Now I understand the story about this logo and why most of my friends has the same personalized logo.

I can’t believe that the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) preferred to have this branding instead of WOW, Philippines! Online critics are right, it has much resemblance to Poland Tourism Board (Polska).

And to make it worst, the domain of the tourism website is just one letter away from a porn site. Make sure you spell beautifulpilipinas.com correctly or you’ll end up supporting sex tourism. But because tourists know our country as Philippines and the beautiful women as Filipinas, it seems that landing to a porn site is inevitable. I don’t know if they are aware of this webpage redirection or if they have any idea about search engine optimization.

Anyways, because I envy my Facebook pals, I used the Kay Ganda application and here’s the result:

Pilipinas Kay Ganda Logo

Not so close, but still... it's beautiful!

If only I’m familiar with Photoshop, I can make it better!

Will this logo be back to the drawing board? With the big amount of money spent on it, I wonder. Will they spend some more? How about holding a logo-making contest instead?

Barangay and SK Election 201010.26.10

Have you seen the news about election-related violence all over the country? I don’t mean to exaggerate things but local disorders have been evident since the campaign period up to this point.

I would like to check direct updates from COMELEC’s website but it was down. What the hell is happening?

Typhoon Juan Leaves Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)10.22.10

Today’s weather report shows that Typhoon Juan (internationally known as Typhoon Megi) just leaves the Philippine area of responsibility which seems to be a good news to all the Filipinos. Though its tail still covers the seaboards of North Luzon causing scattered rainshowers and mostly cloudy skies. Aside from that, another strong typhoon may hit the country this weekend. It seems very alarming especially that a lot of people have been affected last week in the surge of signal 4 typhoon in Cagayan Valley and Benguet.
